Join me in my home studio in Methlick for a relaxed, hands-on 3-hour beginners’ lino printing workshop. I’ll guide you step by step through the process of designing, carving and printing your very own lino block.
We’ll start by exploring a range of carving tools and trying out some simple cutting techniques. You’ll create a small practice block first, giving you the chance to experiment with different marks and patterns and build your confidence using the tools.
You’re welcome to bring along your own images or ideas to work from, although I’ll have plenty of inspiration and examples available in the studio. I’ll show you how to develop your design for print, transfer it onto your lino block, carve your design and prepare it for printing.
I’ll then demonstrate how to apply the ink and hand-burnish your prints to create your finished designs. There’s nothing quite like the excitement of lifting that first print to see how it has turned out!
By the end of the workshop, you’ll have created a selection of your own lino prints, along with the skills and confidence to continue your lino printing journey at home.
